The agreement between you and the operator of Bearings ("we", "us"; manomadethis), effective from October 2026. It covers the web app and the installable PWA. This page has no fine print because there is nothing to hide in it. Companions: the privacy notice, the refund policy, and the trust page.
Bearings is a private money dashboard: budgets, a ledger, portfolio tracking, an assistant called Compass, and document capture. It displays money. It never moves money. No transfers, no payments, no trading execution, no advice. If a feature ever breaks that rule, that feature is a bug.
The Keeper plan costs $4.99 per month (or a yearly equivalent when offered) and includes unlimited Compass messages, unlimited document captures, hosted AI subject to fair use (an hourly rate limit and a monthly hosted-AI budget that refreshes each month; bring your own OpenRouter key to go beyond it at your own cost), 2GB of document storage, and every feature subsequently released. Storage can be extended with the Documents+ add-on (50GB for $4 per month). The free plan includes 100 Compass messages per month (your own OpenRouter key required), unlimited budgets, portfolios, and reports, and 250MB of storage. Uploads are blocked, never deleted, when storage is full; delete documents or upgrade to resume. Push notifications and monthly digests are Keeper features.
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel any time via Settings → Plan, effective immediately; the refund policy governs money back. Payments, invoicing, and taxes are handled by Polar as merchant of record; we never see your card number.
The Bearings software, design, name, and brand belong to the operator. You get a personal, revocable license to use the service — that is all. Your data stays yours (see above); the instrument that holds it stays ours.
If your breach of these terms or your content gets us into a legal dispute with someone else, you cover our reasonable costs from it.
Talk to us first — the contact address reaches a human, and most problems end there. These terms are governed by the operator's law; consumers keep every protection their mandatory local law grants them, including the Jamaica Data Protection Act and, where applicable, the GDPR.
Material changes to these terms are announced in-app (or by email) before they take effect — at least 14 days for anything that reduces your rights. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept them.
If one clause fails, the rest stand. Not enforcing a clause once is not waiving it. We may assign this agreement (say, in a merger); you may not. Outages beyond our reasonable control suspend our obligations while they last. Notices are electronic, on this site or by email.
